Language Arts Curriculum: Amplify
This year we will be using an exciting program in Language Arts called Amplify. Reading and writing will be woven together through the study of rich literature and model texts.

Unit 1: Narrative Writing
Unit 2: Informational Writing (Discovering the Maya, Aztec, and Inca Civilizations)
Unit 3: Poetry (Fridays, starting Quarter 3)
Unit 4: Persuasive Writing (Adventures of Don Quixote)
Unit 5: Biography (The Renaissance)
Unit 6: Friendly Letter (The Reformation)
Mathematics Curriculum: Everyday Math
We will be using the Everyday Math curriculum, which is interactive and in depth, allowing students to understand math in the everyday world.
Science: FOSS with NGSS
We will be using our FOSS science curriculum with implementation of the New Generation Science Standards. Science will be a great time for hands on learning and experimenting together.

History: History Alive!
We will be using the History Alive curriculum for history, which implements many hands on and group activities for deeper meaning and understanding in learning. Students will be learning about the history and land of America.
Art: Miss Harrell
Miss Harrell, our wonderful art teacher, will meet with our class every other Thursday. They will continue learning with her and creating wonderful works of art.
Music: Mrs. Henschel
Mrs. Henschel will be heading up our new music program! Every other Thursday, your students will begin learning the art of music through a variety of exercises and activities.
P.E.: Mrs. Fratacci
Mrs. Fratacci, our skillful P.E. teacher, will meet with our class every Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure that your student is wearing appropriate tennis shoes for these days.
